Sponsorship:
I'm starting to contact possible sponsors for two big I Bike MCR Events, if your organisation, bike shop or company, or one that you work for, want to support us please get in touch, and please pass this email on to anyone you know that might be able to help.
1. The first event is a week long festival taking place from 29th September to the 5th October 2008 for the university freshers and return students:
"minI Bike MCR"
We are organising a week of activities to encourage students, particularly freshers, to get involved with the cycling community in Manchester.
The programme is still being worked on but this is the timetable at the moment. More events may be added:
Monday: 6pm A bicycle tour around our city, taking you to the nicest parks, the best bike shops, cool places to hang out, the best cycle routes, nice landmarks and nice pubs.
Tuesday: The Spokes Bicycle Dance Troupe. The famous all female bicycle dance troupe invite all bike loving girls to come to our practice to learn some moves, have fun on mini bikes and meet more bicycling girls.
Wednesday: From 2pm - 6pm FREE Bicycle Confidence lessons. Book asap to
reserve a place. No matter whether you need some tips on how to deal with
a particular junction or how to ride one handed you can benefit from a
bike confidence class with a qualified cycling instructor.
Thursday: 6pm Bicycle Polo Practice. We will teach newcomers how to play
this exhilarating and fun sport.
Friday: meet 6pm leave 7pm I Bike MCR Superheroes Bicycle Treasure Hunt.
No matter what bike you're on or how well you know the city you can take
part (and have a chance to win!) in this treasure hunt on bicycles. You
can enter as an individual hero or as a dynamic duo. You will ride a course
around the city, stopping at checkpoints to win tokens by completing superhero
style tasks. Listen out at the checkpoints, because if the phone is ringing
you might get a secret mission to win yourself extra points and prizes.
Saturday: Moonlight Ride meeting at 8pm for a 3 hour ride into the night
with a pub stop.
Sunday: Bicycle Maintenance class and social ride. A two hour bike maintenance
skill share where you'll learn how to do a quick safety check on your
bike, how to fix a puncture, how to mend brakes and gears and a general
overview of how bikes work and their anatomy! Followed by a leisurely
ride into one of Manchester's nature reserves, Chorlton Ees.
I am in the process of making a booklet/programme for this event which
will include the timetable of events and also some need to know information
about cycling in Manchester, such as local bike shops, cycling groups/rides,
local organisations that support cyclists, nice places to ride in the
city etc.
We need:
Money: for producing the booklet and promotional items- posters, flyers etc., for materials for the bicycle maintenance and cycle confidence classes, and for the hire of venues to do the bicycle maintenance class in. We'd also like to get some t-shirts made that will commemorate the event to give to people that participate.
Prizes: for the treasure hunt. Again, these can be anything from clothing to a bicycle, to a wheel-set, to a meal in a restaurant, to a hamper of goodies. We need prizes for boy and girl up to 3rd place, prizes for the 5 "special missions" and of course for DFL (last place)
2.The second event is our annual bike festival in Manchester:
The third I Bike MCR Festival.
This is a month long festival in Manchester that benefits thousands of people. It will be in its third year in 2009 and will take place from Friday 27th March to Friday 24th April 2009.
It features a plethora of cycling and social events with the aim of creating a stronger bicycle community in Manchester. It is organised voluntarily by a grassroots group of cyclists, for free in their own time. It is a not for profit festival: "we simply want to promote cycling and build our bike community".
Over the last two years we have had amazing sponsorship support and now we need more.
What we need:
Money:
* For our I Bike MCR programme booklet
* For venue hire
* For equipment such as hire of the rollers for the roller race
* For promotional items such as flyers and poster
* For the zine that is made after the event to detail and report results
and peoples stories from the event.
* For commemorative t shirts for participants
Prizes
We need prizes to give out at every competitive event. These can be anything
from clothing to a bicycle to a wheel-set to a meal in a restaurant. We
need prizes for boy and girl up to 3rd place and DFL (last place) for
each event as follows:
Competitive events include:
*Bicycle Treasure Hunt
*Hell of the North West Alleycat IIII
*Yo Fixie IIII- Track stand comp, track skid comp, Eliminator Race *Roller
Race
*Bicycle Jousting Competition
*National Bicycle Polo Tournament (3 players to a team)
And many more!
It is possible for one company to sponsor a whole event and provide all
the prizes for one event and all the promotion for it. If you would like
to do this please get in touch for a price and prize estimate.
If you think you can help with one or both of these events please get in touch. Whatever you can give will be gratefully received.
What you will get in return:
An advert of yours in the booklets and zines, on our website and logo's on flyers and posters etc.
By having your logo placed on our website, event promotionals, and in the booklet your company is sure to get a lot of attention. Over 5000 flyers and over 200 posters potentially bearing your logo will be printed and distributed to bike shops and groups throughout the UK and Europe.
We are working on our promotional materials for both these events NOW- flyers and posters. We are distributing them at big cycling events such as the European Cycle Messengers Championship, The London Bicycle Film Festival, The Shoreditch Bicycle Polo Tournament, Manchester velodrome events and much more.
SO PLEASE GET IN TOUCH AND SEND LOGO'S ASAP SO YOU DON'T MISS OUT!!! You can send them by post or to our email address in high resolution jpeg format.
How we will benefit
All I Bike MCR events are organised voluntarily, in our own time and for no profit. The thing we get out of it is being part of a stronger cycling community, which actually benefits all us bike lovers. So please support our events if you can.
