Nes,
27, Cycling Instructor
Nes feels like she was born on a bike and organises many bike rides and
festivals, including Manchester's annual l Bike MCR Festival. She started
The Spokes group when she was inspired by bicycle dance troupes in the
US. Nes works as a cycling instructor with children and adults and also
plays in Manchester's bicycle polo team, The Dropouts. "Bikes",
she says, "rule her life." Nes rides the Pretty Extreme with
The Spokes a bike which won the 2007 Alleykitten race in Manchester.
Kelda,
27, Landscape Architect
When she's not standing on the saddle of a kid's bike in The Spokes, Kelda can usually be seen on a mountain bike in forests with her big black dog running alongside her. She has been riding bikes since she was little, going on long tours with her family. Kelda's Spoke mobile is the Scorpion a lovely red kids bike.
Jane,
27, Speech Therapist
Jane is a ray of sunshine and is always grinning. She has been riding bikes since she was little and has recently got back into riding again after a short time off the saddle. Jane rides a beautiful lilac kids shopper when bike dancing with The Spokes.
Viv,
24, Carer
Viv recently bought a mountain bike from a friend so that she could start playing bicycle polo with the Manchester Dropouts. With The Spokes she rides a lovely navy kids bike.
Ioanna,
29 Specialist Speech and Language therapist
Ioanna has been riding bikes since she was a little girl in Cyprus. She rides a lovely bone shaker around town and an ace green and black bmx with The Spokes.
Carly,
23, Bar person
Carly learnt to ride a bike as a child in Newport and now she bazzes around Manchester on a mountain bike. With The Spokes she rides Max, a green mean machine.
Julia,
27, Grocer
Julia has fantastic dance and acrobatics skills as she also practices capoeira. She loves to ride her bike, commuting to work every day and always using it as her main form of transport. Her Spokes bike is the smallest of them all that she chose for the comedy value of her riding knees to chin.
We are always on the lookout for new ladies to join us, you don't have
to be a dancer or have to have loads of tricks up your sleeves because
we all support each other and teach each other stuff and come up with
ideas of stuff to do together it would be great for The Spokes to get
